Song-Tsuen Peng received the degrees of B.S.E.E.(1995) from Cheng-Kung University, M.S.E.E. (1961) from Chiao-Tung University, and Ph.D. in Electrophysics (1968) from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, Brooklyn, N.Y.. Since 1990, he has been a Professor in the Department of Communication Engineering and gave served as the Chairman of the Department for the past three years. Dr. Peng had his training in the broad area of Electromagnetics, with applications ranging from microwave to optical engineering. Based on the microwave techniques, such as : the network method and the transverse resonance technique, he has been engaged in the research on Dielectric Waveguides for integrated-optical and millimeter-wave applications for over twenty years. In particular, his work on uniform and periodic dielectric waveguides had been recognized as a fundamental contribution to the science of dielectric waveguides. Such type of work puts forward the only rigorous formulation of dielectric grating waveguides under the most general excitation condition. In addition, he has undertaken the study of various nonuniform dielectric waveguides for applications as antennas. His technical contributions have earned him the honors of IEEE Fellow and SPIE Fellow. Besides his teaching and research responsibilities, Dr.Peng has been very active in many academic and professional activities. Among many important positions he is currently holding, he is serving as the Chairman, Taipei Chapter of IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society, and is cooperating with the industries to promote the teaching and research in this important area. |
